KAPPA KARES

KAPPA KARES

All proceeds from our two philanthropy events benefit NAMI– a a United States-based nonprofit organization originally founded as a grassroots group by family members of people diagnosed with mental illness. We are proud to say that we received an Honorable Mention for the Kappa Philanthropy Signature Event Award for our achievements from 2014 to 2016. In 2009, we were given the National Outstanding Philanthropy Award and in 2012 the Outstanding Philanthropy Award for our province and we raised over $61,000. This past year, our fundraising total was $56,500– the highest total we've had since 2012. Because of these outstanding fundraising efforts, we received an award from Nationals for the most money raised for a philanthropy across all Kappa chapters! We are proud of how much we have been able to raise for such a generous cause and can't wait to continue these efforts.

Kappa Krawfish is the largest and highest-producing of our two major philanthropy events. Each Spring, we bring the taste of the south to our lawn by hosting a crawfish boil complete with all of the fixings, straight from Louisiana. Live music, amazing vendors and sweet treats are some other key players which allow us to showcase some of Athens' local talent!

In the Spring of 2022, we hosted Kappa Krawfish in conjunction with out Spring Parents' weekend and we were overwhelmed with the results! Kappa hosted 23 vendors in the house who sold everything from clothing, jewelry and art. The girls were especially thrilled to have the Girl Scouts there! We are thrilled to announce that we were able to raise over $40,000 from this year's boil alone!
